Spice

Spicy dishes can be difficult for wine pairing but not impossible! As a general rule you want to stay away from any strong tannin or high alcohol. You need a wine that will compliment the spices but not intensify and heat. Fruitier wines make a good match, even an off-dry white. Think Thai green curry with an aromatic Gewurtraminer or Tikka Masala with a young and fruity red that can be served slightly chilled.
